The Dingly Dell Trail
Some how those wallys at Lost & Found got put in charge of curating a performance area in the woods that adjoin the Magic Meadow and they have come back with what looks like an intriguing little area. Going 'off piste' at Camp Bestival into the woods will have its rewards! Lead along The Dingly Dell Trail, you will happen upon domestic rooms in the wild, populated by an array of beings, chancing upon man and women in the confines of nature, follow trails of breadcrumbs leading you on a discovery, send correspondence via an array of pulleys, be enchanted by movements on islands across still ponds and be disturbed by the late night inhabitants that are always watching.
This will be a wonderful interactive performance area for kids and adults by day with a darker edge late night once the campfires burn low. All perfomances are cutting edge new site specific performances that have been commissioned exclusively for Camp Bestival.
Gideon Reeling (the sister company of Punchdrunk Theatre) have designed and built an amazing set within the woods and they will be performing a late night promenade each night entitled 'No Man is an Island'. Gideon Reeling’s Reel around the Dingly Dell will see its inhabitants continue about their nightly business, the bread bakes in the Bakers, the night mail is sorted and the telly is on. The outer forces see everything and the security patrol. The big dark village is growing and no one is quite sure anymore, who rules which roost. This nightime promenade around the woods designed and performed by Gideon Reeling’s Assistants will feature live acoustic music, twisted tales and petty rivalry. Friday / Saturday 11pm-2am. Sunday 10pm -1am.
The Performance Laboratory takes the audience on a journey through the Dingly Dell creating a beautiful and haunting experience at twilight. You're invited go on an adventure in the woods, meet characters from fairy tales, solve puzzles, and see if you are clever and brave enough find your way out before night sets in...
Taking part earlier in the day will be a piece called 'Ardour' which has been devised, written and performed entirely by Bridge The Gap - a Weymouth Drama Club formed a little over 10 months ago to offer young people between the ages of 16 and 25 an outlet for dramatic exploration and performance. The members of BTG strive to be creative, exploratative and to always think outside the box and the work they bring to Camp Bestival was influenced by the eerie yet mysteriously magical surroundings in the woods at Lulworth.
Upside Dance (a new dance company mostly made up of graduates from LABAN School and members of Transitions Dance Company) will also be doing a devised piece in the woods during the daytime.
